Getting Started

Build wood cutter first, then berry plucker, then mining camp. Use paths (press R to rotate) to connect elevated areas. Gathering camps are freely movable without cost.Mining Camp
Mining camp: 2 workers per camp, assign anyone initially. Press M for mining, V to go down, F to go up. Mining camp workers only work within their sphere of influence (marked by white circle).Food Management
Each Whisker consumes approximately 1 meal per day. Build log houses (higher quality than stone shelters). House placement: keep white square entrance free.Day 1 Strategy
Day 1: don't worry about houses (fresh arrival bonus offsets sleep outside debuff). Day 2+: must have housing ready. The fresh arrival bonus gives +8 happiness for 2 days.Sawmill Setup
Sawmill requires logs + machinery (choose small package with machinery from supply ship). Stone is worth nothing for taxes; processed materials (planks) also worth nothing. Copper ore is powerful for early game; coal worth 13 per piece.Supply Ship
Supply ship: must buy something or lose Claws' trust. Small package = machinery (needed for workshops). Luxury package = building materials, food, money, no machinery.Housing Quality
Log houses are higher quality than stone shelters. Place houses in neighborhoods, keeping white square entrance free. Houses should be near warehouse for efficient logistics.First Tax Payment
Tax Collector arrives every 3 days. Copper ore and coal are most valuable for early tax payments. Overpaying builds trust and can unlock schematics.Early Game Mistakes
Not building additional storage early grinds economy to halt. Stone fills up storage quickly but has no tax value. Build storage sheds early to avoid production stoppages.

Prioritize heating for homes and key areas. Whiskers don't need to be warm constantly if their clothing provides some protection, but their houses require consistent heating. Utilize fire tenders and steam heating. Fire tenders help manage firepits by automatically refilling them, reducing micromanagement, and steam heating becomes a game-changer for efficient, less polluting warmth.
